Name: Sajina Dangol
Course: MBA
Study Level: Master Degree
University: University of Sunderland
Country of origin: Nepal
Q. Why did you enroll on your course and how did you choose your university?
I enrolled on my course to foster my career into the business world and through internet surfing and consultancy I managed to enrol on the course that I am doing which is MBA.
Q. Why did you choose the UK as a study destination?
UK is recognized as one of the world’s best country to accomplish the enlightenment of knowledge as well as to obtain practical knowledge related to my course.
Q. How would you describe the structure of your course?
The structure of my MBA course is full time. The course was really interesting because in this course I had to study marketing, international business, applied business research, global strategy and one of my favourite Human resources in which I have done the research and dissertation. While doing the research I chose two companies based upon eastern and western culture regarding Human resource. By doing this I came to know about the system and difference between the rewards systems in these two cultures.
Q. How does the English teaching style differ from that in your home country?
The teaching style differs a lot here than that in my country. The teaching is more practical and interactive. Advanced technology is also implemented for teaching and the teaching style here emphasizes on self study rather than depending upon the lecturer notes.
Q. How did you fund your studies?
By the family support.
Q. What were the biggest challenges that you faced in your first year?
Teaching methodologies and cross- culture differences were the major challenges I faced during my first year. Also the accent was totally new to me and I could hardly understand the accent for the first few months. However, at the end I found the multi-cultured London to be more interesting place to be living in.
Q. What are the best things about your course?
The best things about my course are Dissertation and field work. There were classes for course work for only 3 times a week for three subjects which lasted for 3 hours per class. But for the dissertation there were supervision classes in which we had to take an appointment with our supervisor and they gave the guidance for our dissertation. Although it is tough to write massive words, it is fun to discover new things regarding HR.
Q. What are you planning to do after graduation?
After my graduation I am planning to apply for internship as well as degree related task.
Q. What advice would you give to other new international students?
The education of UK is good but the changing rules for international student in this country is not satisfactory as well as there is not enough facilities for students than USA Universities have such as scholarship scheme for international student and please be aware from the fake colleges. Before applying to any universities or colleges try to gather appropriate information.
