This course is for students who wish to gain the skills, knowledge and attitudes needed to develop innovative graphic design solutions at an advanced level, with an option to specialize in one or more of the following areas: Print Technologies, Packaging and Publication Design, Corporate Identity, Web Design, Interactive Digital Media and Photo-media, Animation and Visual Effects for Simulations, Film, Television and Interactive Games, Design for Marketing, Advertising and Business. On completion of the course students will be able to source opportunities, design, produce and work either independently or collaboratively in the creation of innovative graphic design and related products. They will be able to work with increasing independence, pursuing their own aims, interests and vision in chosen areas of specialisation, and broaden their understanding of the nature, role and practices of the designer in the community. Students will be able to further extend their skills and knowledge into the realm of inquiry, discovery and anticipation of emerging developments in the field of Graphic Design. Career opportunities include graphic designer, graphic artist; illustrator; digital artist/designer/illustrator.

Students must have completed Year 12 or equivalent or a relevant Certificate III qualification, or equivalent, and completion of Diploma of Graphic Design and Communication TAFE NSW Course: 19211. They also have to submit a portfolio (attached) - with the exception of students who have completed the course 19212 Graphic Design and Communication Diploma. They must also demonstrate English language ability such as, suitable results of a recent academic IELTS - score 6.0 overall with no individual band lower than 5.5, or TOEFL (iBT) 68, or successful completion of TAFE NSW Certificate III in English for Further Study, or proof that the medium of instruction at school has been in English with satisfactory grades in English in final examinations.
