This course is for people who want a career in the design and production of contemporary jewellery. Students will learn to use appropriate technologies and work with a wide variety of materials. There is a strong emphasis on workshop methods, computer applications, marketing and business studies, and individually creative and innovative expression. This course will enable students to work as independent and entrepreneurial jewellery and object designer either with an existing business, or from their own studio. The course is project-based. They will learn to apply creative, critical and visual judgement to a design brief or client related project and develop a range of innovative solutions using different materials and styles. Particular emphasis is placed on presentation and exhibition skills appropriate to gallery type displays. Career opportunities include jewellery designer/practitioner.

Students must have completed Year 12 or equivalent. They must have demonstrated proficiency in English with academic IELTS score of 6.0 or TOEFL (iBT) score of 60 or equivalent or Certificate III in English for further study or equivalent. They must submit a portfolio.
