This course incorporates the Certificate IV in Screen and Media within the first year of study. This course is highly practical and has a focus on studio recording and live sound reinforcement. Throughout the course, students work on a variety of practical projects, which are supported by theoretical knowledge. The course makes use of a variety of recording experiences ranging from High Definition digital studio recording to analog mixing and recording of live bands. Students completing the Certificate IV or Advanced Diploma who wish to further their skills may be eligible to apply for other TAFE and university courses in recording, sound design and post-production for film and television, theatre, audio/visual technology, radio production and new media. Graduates of these courses may gain employment in recording studios, concert production and sound design companies.

Students must have successful completion of studies equivalent to Australian Year 12 or relevant employment experience. They must have IELTS overall band score of 5.5 or higher (or recognised equivalents). Mature aged students are encouraged to apply.
