The campus is situated on a 22-hectare site in the heart of Whyalla’s education and cultural precinct. It represents the major centre of tertiary education in rural and regional South Australia and is the home of UniSA’s Centre For Regional Engagement. This is a smaller campus lends itself to more personalised classes and closer interaction between students and staff. The campus boasts excellent teaching, study support, research and accommodation facilities. The library is well equipped and provides rapid access to the resources located at other UniSA campuses. Computing resources are networked to produce a powerful and flexible learning environment for students studying on and off campus. Wireless internet access has been installed, changing the way students can connect and study while on campus.

There are a wide range of accommodation options available to students while studying at UniSA, including student apartments, student hostels, homestay, residential colleges and private rental. The residential colleges are located in North Adelaide, within walking distance to the City. They include a single bedroom, fully furnished with a bed, desk, chair, telephone and wardrobe. Access to computers with online access to universities and the internet, a library, music rooms, sporting and laundry facilities, Students also benefit from the pastoral care. Student hostels includes fully furnished single rooms, normally with shared bathroom, kitchen, laundry and recreational areas. Some hostels also have double or triple share rooms. Some student hostels offer special rates for short term stays, subject to availability. Student apartments offer fully furnished options which cater to a wide range of preferences, requirements and budgets. For international students, home stay is a further opportunity to practise the English language skills and learn about the Australian lifestyle. Some students choose homestay just for their first four weeks in Adelaide and look for long term accommodation during this time. While others like to stay long term. Normally full board is provided (own furnished room plus meals). Non-profit housing accommodation options are generally unfurnished. As they operate on a not-for-profit or subsidised basis, availability is limited, eligibility criteria and waiting lists may apply. This free service has been designed to make it easier for UniSA students to find suitable housing. Here students will find a range of accommodation options such as single rooms, share-houses, units, etc. Located 400 kilometres north west of Adelaide the Whyalla Student Village provides accommodation for students studying at UniSA's Whyalla Campus. Whyalla is near the head of Spencer Gulf and South Australia's second largest city.

This centre was established in 2005, with undergraduate degree level studies commencing in the program areas of nursing, social work, business and enterprise. UniSA Foundation Studies Regional Strand is also on offer at Mount Gambier as a pilot program for study in 2008. This has been an exciting development for UniSA, Mount Gambier and regional South Australia, and its success reflects extensive ongoing community consultations and collaborative partnerships.
