This combined degree course provides students with the opportunity to major in an accounting program in conjunction with legal studies with a view to satisfying the academic requirements for admission into both the accounting and the legal professions. The accounting course provides students with a sound knowledge base in financial accounting, management accounting, taxation, business law and finance. This vocationally oriented and student - centred course provides students with employment and professional skills needed in a rapidly changing business environment. It allows for flexibility of study and prepares students for careers in a variety of business fields. In addition, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills are emphasised. The primary aim of the law course is to provide legal education for the practice of law. In that context, the course aims to provide knowledge of the legal system and legal principles, and to cultivate a capacity for legal research, analysis and communication. The course also deals with theoretical perspectives on the law and encourages an appreciation of legal issues of special significance to the Northern Territory, including Aboriginal legal issues. Graduates of law are not restricted to a career as a solicitor, barrister, prosecutor or judge, if that is not their ambition. A law degree opens up career options in in-house counsel of private and public institutions, teaching, industrial relations, military, police services, politics, human rights, customs, immigration or any public or private sector employment where an in-depth understanding of the law would be an advantage.

Applicants must have successful completion of Australian Year 12 or equivalent and must demonstrate their English language proficiency with an overall minimum IELTS score of 6.0 with no band less than 5.5, or equivalent.
