This course is designed to demonstrate how scientific and economic principles are applied to manage agricultural systems and the natural resources on which these systems depend. The course is designed to provide a broad training in science and agriculture. The first year develops basic skills in chemistry, biology and statistics as well as offering core courses in soils and agriculture. In the second and third years students enrol in courses in crop science, livestock science, soil science and agribusiness. Employment opportunities includes Advisory, research and regulatory services, Agricultural production, Agriculture related industries, Agronomy and banking, Commercial enterprises, Farm machinery, management and operation, Government and semi-government agencies, Journalism, communication and marketing, Research and technical work and Secondary, tertiary and vocational education. The Waite and Roseworthy campuses are recognised as centres of excellence in agricultural science.

Students should have assumed knowledge in SACE Stage 2 Chemistry, Mathematical Studies. They must have knowledge in the following prerequisites: Two subjects: 1 from Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics, and 1 from Biology, Chemistry, Geology or Physics. Students should also satisfy the following English language requirements: IELTS score of 6 (Reading score of 5.5, Listening score of 5.5, Speaking score of 6 and writing score of 6).
