This course will leave students with a professional's understanding of dance, and facilitates both work and further studies in the dynamic sphere of the cultural arts both in Australia and internationally. It delivers a mix of theoretical and experiential learning that will allow work-ready graduates to secure dance-related opportunities across many different industry contexts. This innovative new course leverages ACPE’s longstanding expertise in offering the Bachelor of Dance Education, which is designed for those who are committed to a teaching career at secondary school level. The degree revolves around two major strands, Dance as Artform (10/24 subjects) and Dance and the Industry (6/24 subjects); the balance of the degree is structured around Supporting Studies (Anatomy and Physiology, for example), as well as Problem Based Learning (PBL), and Practical Experience. They will gain employment opportunities as instructors of dance, choreographers, facilitators and administrators, dance-related roles in community groups, coordinators of programs in dance, the arts, and recreation

Applicants must meet at least ONE of the following criteria to be considered for admission: Minimum NSW HSC (Higher School Certificate or interstate equivalent) average of 65 (calculated from the average of the highest 10 units completed), or a minimum ATAR of 68 or equivalent International Baccalaureate or a qualification from a recognised higher education provider or an Associate Diploma, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Tertiary Preparation Certificate from a TAFE or other recognised VET provider qualification or One year full-time or equivalent in a degree course at an Australian university. They must have a record of satisfactory achievement in secondary/tertiary studies in which the language of instruction was in English, including an official document certifying that English was the medium of instruction; or (ii) a record of the attainment of an overall band score of 6.0 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), with a minimum of 6.0 in each of the reading, writing and listening subtests and a minimum of 5.5 in the speaking subtest; or an equivalent record of English proficiency attainment in an English language test that is recognised by the College. (Scores older than two years are not accepted).
