In this course, physiotherapists assess, diagnose and treat people with movement problems caused by a wide variety of joint, muscle and nerve disorders. They use a range of drug-free techniques, including: joint mobilisation and manipulation, exercise for a variety of conditions including lung disorders, arthritis and stroke electrophysical agents (such as hot packs, ice and interferential treatment), therapeutic exercises and stretches, breathing exercises and techniques. The profession of physiotherapy is physically demanding and requires the development of a range of precise physical skills for its practice. Prospective students will be expected to carry out and have carried out upon themselves as simulated patients, examination and treatment procedures used by physiotherapists. In addition to undertaking physiotherapy units, students will study units in exercise and sports science, behavioural and community health sciences and biomedical sciences. Physiotherapists work in sports facilities, private practices, hospitals, schools and universities, public health organisations and in community centres, aged-care facilities and workplaces.

Students must have an acceptable secondary qualification from their high school studies (or at least one year of tertiary studies). They must satisfy IELTS score of 6.5 (min 6.0 in each band) or TOEFL minimum result of 577 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in writing or IBT score of 90 overall including a minimum result of 22 in reading, listening and speaking and 23 in writing).
