This course aims to prepare students as visual arts and design educators and design professionals working in graphic and media design, film and television production and post-production, festivals, theatre, exhibition and display, furnishings and interiors, ceramics, textiles and jewellery product design. It comprises an art and design education double major, courses in design, including design, history theory and aesthetics, electives and General Education courses. Students can choose a design major and minor from the following: Applied Object, Ceramics, Environments Spatial, Graphics Media, Jewellery, Textiles. Honours is available to eligible students as part of the fifth year.

Students will be considered for admission to this program at UNSW on the basis of their performance in any of the following: Australian and New Zealand final senior secondary studies, post-secondary or tertiary qualifications, overseas qualifications considered equivalent to Australian studies or an alternative entry scheme. They should also have higher School Certificate minimum Band 4 in Standard English or higher School Certificate minimum Band 4 in English as a Second Language or higher School Certificate minimum Band 4 in Advanced English or IELTS score of 7.5, with a minimum of 8.0 in speaking and listening and a minimum of 7.0 in reading and writing.
