This course has been specifically designed to respond to the new demands created by the increasing convergence of information, media and communication, design, and the creative arts. The course uses a 'learning through making' approach which is creative, collaborative and critical. The broad range of skills and knowledge needed for creative information practice is reflected in the portfolio students develop throughout the course. Students create a portfolio of products including blogs, podcasts, websites, databases as well as audience and user analyses. The degree also provides students with an opportunity to develop a secondary specialization to complement core studies and to undertake a professional placement. This interdisciplinary course prepares students for work in a variety of creative information design and management roles. They develop an understanding of the interrelationships between people, information and communication technologies, as well as practical skills in areas such as web design and architecture, media research and writing information and media content for diverse audiences. Career options include work as collection developers, database designers, information architects, information managers, librarians, media researchers, new media producers, project managers, and web content developers or content managers.

Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification, Australian Qualifications Framework Diploma, or equivalent Australian or overseas qualification at the required level. Students must fulfill the following English language proficiency of academic IELTS score of: 7.0 overall with a writing score of 7.0; or TOEFL: paper based score of: 600 overall with TWE score of 5.0, internet based score of: 100 overall with a writing score of 23; or DEEP Program (Completion of the Insearch Direct Entry English Program at B+ level) or PTE score of 75.
