This program in industrial relations and human resource management has two strands: the theory and practice of relations between employers, employees, unions and government; as well as the management of people within an organisation, including recruitment, selection, remuneration, appraisal, and training and development. This is a professional major includes a work experience program with placements in unions, employer organisations, companies and government. It provides a comprehensive and well-rounded understanding of the employment relationship and will provide students with the knowledge to pursue a career in a variety of IR and HRM fields. They can choose to specialise within the major in areas such as human resource management, strategic management, organisational behaviour, labour law, industrial relations policy and global employment relations. The majors are professionally accredited by the Australian Human Resources Institute.

Students must have an acceptable secondary qualification from their high school studies (or at least one year of tertiary studies). They must satisfy IELTS score of 6.5 (min 6.0 in each band) or TOEFL minimum result of 577 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in writing or IBT score of 90 overall including a minimum result of 22 in reading, listening and speaking and 23 in writing).
