The campus is located in the historic West End of Fremantle, the main port city of Western Australia, 18 kilometers from Perth. It is a "town" university and the only one of its type in Australia. The beautiful buildings of both the Campus and the surrounding city of Fremantle lend a distinctive character to Notre Dame. Present and past merge into a rich mix of cultures and traditions that is typical of the older university towns of Europe. Notre Dame is a growing community within the City of Fremantle and contributes actively to the City.

There are numerous short term accommodation options available in the Fremantle area and the Fremantle Tourist Bureau is the first point of contact for this. The Housing Officer, located in the Student Life Office (ND9), can provide assistance when trying to find more permanent accommodation. The accommodation service is a referral service, therefore the listings of any available rental properties have not been inspected nor has any individual offering share opportunities been interviewed or police checked. Any lease negotiated between a student and a landlord or homeowner is the responsibility of the parties involved. No accommodation is pre-arranged or personally provided for individual students by Notre Dame.
