This program is designed to provide students with the core skills needed for lifelong learning in the constantly changing aviation environment. They can study second- and third-year courses via the Internet. In their third year they will have the opportunity to undertake a short research project, which can be sponsored by an organisation or individual within the industry. Year 1, they will complete the General Flying Progress Test (GFPT) and flight training with an approved flight-training provider; and begin the prescribed program of study that introduces the sciences underpinning the theory and practice of aviation. Year 2, they will complete their Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) theory and instrument theory. Their studies will concentrate on the specific aviation topics necessary for professional competence. Year 3, they will undertake the theory component of their Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) and a Multi-Engine Command Instrument Rating or Instructor Rating to complete their aviation training. They will be ready to work in the field of general aviation, which includes charter work, flight instruction (theory and practical) and other aerial services, such as agricultural spraying, aerial surveying and photography. Recent graduates have been employed as flying instructors, first officers with regional airlines and in the Australian Defence Force, they will also be able to apply their skills to many areas of the aviation industry such as management, research and human resource management, and government organisations, such as the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.

Students should have completed a senior secondary school qualification regarded as comparable to an Australian Year 12 award. International students whose native is not English should have the following requirements: a minimum overall band score of 6.0 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 5.5; a minimum score of 550 on TOEFL; an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score of 79 (no score less than 19); no score less than three in each skill of the ISLPR (conducted by GELI or ISLPR Language Services only); a minimum grade of C on the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE); a minimum grade of C on the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE).
