In this program, students gain an understanding of how the human body works and what happens when diseases, infections and clinical disorders occur. Their study combines traditional biomedical disciplines such as physiology, anatomy, pathophysiology, immunology, and biochemistry, with specific competency-based skills in areas such as pharmacology, nutrition, biotechnology, and microbial diseases. They gain the scientific knowledge and skills to work in applied biomedical industries and biomedical research. The program provides appropriate education for entry into postgraduate medical courses. Career opportunities include Biomedical research and education, biotechnology, communicable disease control, diagnostic pathology, drug registration, medical sales and pharmaceuticals, medical microbiology. Graduates may become members of the Australian Society for Biotechnology; Australian Society for Immunology; Australian Society for Microbiology; Australian Society for Molecular Biology and Biochemistry.

Students must have completed Australian Year 12 with good grades and must have prior knowledge in English and Maths. Students must satisfy any one of the following English language requirements: IELTS (Academic) score of at least 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 in all subtests; a TOEFL score (paper-based test) of at least 550, with essay score of 4; TOEFL score (internet-based test) of at least 76, with a minimum writing score 18 or successful completion of Direct Entry English Pathway, with a minimum grade of 65 percent.
