This course focuses on the fundamental relationship between law and business and is ideal for those planning careers in a wide range of business areas including professional accounting, business management, international trade and industrial relations. It will equip the important skills in teamwork and in written and oral communication as well as high-level analytical, problem solving and research skills. Students will learn how to recognize, analyze and, where possible, avoid many of the legal problems that can arise in the course of common business transactions. Further, and perhaps more importantly, where such avoidance is not possible, they will acquire knowledge and skills that will empower them to intelligent request, understand and act on legal services and advice. These are vital business skills that are relevant not just to business in the context of the Australian legal system but also in the context of the legal systems of the many other 'common law' countries around the world. Thus, as the accountability and personal liability of professionals, business managers and public servants continues to grow, a strong grounding in business law is increasingly being seen as an attractive attribute for potential employers both nationally and internationally. Graduates are well qualified for a variety of roles in the private and government sectors. These include careers in accountancy, business management, marketing, international trade, banking and finance, public service, industrial relations, human resource management and related professions and endeavors that draw on an appropriate level of knowledge of business law, such as those undertaken by government organizations and Non Government Organizations (NGOs) involved in areas such as consumer protection, competition policy, financial regulation, trade policy and legal assistance. Students can choose to take additional postgraduate studies including the Juris Doctor, Graduate Diploma in Law, Graduate Diploma in Commercial and Resources Law, Master of Law or Master of Commercial and Resources Law.

Students must have completed Western Australian Universities Preparatory Program (WAUPP) with a score of 63, International Baccalaureate with a score of 29, French Baccalaureate with a score of 12, UWA Foundation Program (UWAFP) with a score of 66, GCE or Cambridge Advanced-level Examinations with a score of 8. To be eligible for admission to a program at UWA, they must demonstrate satisfactory performance in a UWA-approved test of English. This is the case even if English is their first language. They must also have WA Certificate of Education in English, Literature or English as an additional language/dialect with scaled mark of 50 or above, in stage 2 or stage 3. TEE English/English Literature with scaled mark of 50 or above English as a Second Language with final mark of 66.60 or above (in 2007). There are different English language requirement for various states.
