This major allows students to study a combination of the other major disciplines in the Bachelor of Commerce and consists of six level (third-year) subjects from three or more disciplines, or study areas, within the core program. Business skills are essential in all industries, and a multidisciplinary approach to problem solving is desirable to most employers. These skills are applied across diverse industry sectors and enable graduates to be versatile, adaptable and flexible employees. The disciplines students study will have some impact on their future career path. A strong marketing focus may lead to a career as a marketing professional, and a combination of finance and management subjects may lead to work in the banking industry. Their training may suit organizations interested in a variety of disciplines, such as management consulting and professional services firms. Entrepreneurship is another option. As a result of their multidisciplinary training, business graduates enjoy a wide variety of career prospects in many industries. Students will enter the labor market with skills considered vital to many employers, and which are essential for many roles. These skills are often referred to as transferable workplace skills and include: oral and written communication skills, ability to critically analyze and synthesize information, problem-solving skills, practice operating in teams, ability to work independently and take responsibility for their learning.

Applicants must have successfully completed the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or an equivalent qualification. International applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria in English language requirements: achieved a study score of at least 25 in English/English Language/Literature, or at least 30 in ESL; and at least 25 in Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics. TOEFL paper based test score of 577 or more including a score of 4.5 in the Test of Written English, computer based test score of 233 or more including an essay rating score of 4.5, internet based test score of 90 or more with no band score less than 21; an overall band score of 6.5 or more in the Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS), with no bands less than 6.0; satisfactorily complete secondary studies and gain the required score in an approved final-year English subject; within the last two years have satisfactorily completed at least the first year of a tertiary course taught and assessed entirely in English; or within the last five years have satisfactorily completed at least a two year tertiary course taught and assessed entirely in English.
