This program focuses on the study of operations management and econometrics. Operations Management and Decision Sciences introduces students to the management of operations; the processes that add value for a customer. It equips students with a structured approach to decision-making in business and managerial situations, where choice between alternatives is complex and can involve a difficult trade-off between multiple objectives. The major focuses on significant decisions that can be addressed in an objective fashion through quantitative modelling and analysis, combined with an understanding of the problem at hand. Such skills are repeatedly required in contemporary management. There is a range of electives offered through the major enabling students to select either topic in operations management or in decision sciences. The Econometrics major is designed to produce graduates with skills that can realize the profit potential of data. It is intended for students who have a primary interest in the analysis of data, as well as for those wishing to develop their analytical skills in the primary area of economics. Students may be seeking skills for use within current employment areas, or for understanding current research reports; or they may be looking towards future employment in analysis.

Students must have a completed pass degree with a minimum weighted average mark (WAM) of 65 per cent across all senior units of study taken, and a minimum of 70 per cent in units completed in the major relating to the intended honours year. Students are required to have a major in the field of study in which they intend to undertake their honours year. Disciplines may require a higher academic standard and/or require specified pre-honours units of study.
