This program is a pre-professional qualification usually followed by the Master of Architecture to provide qualifications to enter the architecture profession. This program is also a basis for careers in a wide range of fields in private and government sectors in Australia and overseas. The program is delivered using a mixture of problem-based learning, design studio tutoring and traditional teaching. Design studio courses use an innovative problem-based approach to learning in which a range of concerns (technical, ecological, historical and managerial) are integrated into the process of architectural design. In conjunction a range of courses support the development of essential skills and focused knowledge. These courses are in the areas of construction technology, construction ecology, communications, computing and the history and theory of architecture. Graduates of the Bachelor of Design (Architecture) usually proceed to the Master of Architecture program. However, graduates choosing not to undertake further study with the Master of Architure, are able to pursue a variety of para-professional careers such as technicians, drafters, managers and designers in public and private architectural practices, and associated industries. There is a diverse range of career opportunities for Master of Architecture graduates. In addition to careers in private architectural practice, opportunities include careers in town planning, construction, project management, property development, overseas aid, infrastructure planning, research, journalism, criticism, restoration and conservation.

Applicants must have an Australian Year 12 in Australia or an Australian Year 12 outside Australia or an International Baccalaureate (IB) in Australia. Entry based on UAI or equivalent. Students of China must have Senior Middle School 3 or 2 60% (SMS 3) or 75% (SMS 2), Malaysia students with SPM 30 points over five subjects and UEC 30 points over five subjects, Singapore students must have GCE ‘O’ Level (or forecast results) 30 points over five subjects and Vietnam students must possess Diploma of General Education Average grade 7.0. English language requirements include IELTS Overall Score of 5.5 (with no individual band less than 5.0), TOEFL – Computer-based Test score of 173 with a TWE minimum score of 4.0, TOEFL – Internet-based Test 71 with a minimum score of 16 in Writing, TOEFL – Paper-based Test 500 with a TWE minimum score of 4.0, GCE ‘O’ Levels C6, SPM English of grade B4, UEC Senior 2 English of grade B3, HKCEE English with grade C (Minimum D in Writing) and HKALE Use of English with grade E.
