This program is aimed at the education of professional engineers in one of the three disciplines: civil, electrical and mechanical. On successful completion of Bachelor of Engineering (Co-op) and Diploma of Professional Practice program, graduates should demonstrate an: ability to apply knowledge of basic science and engineering fundamentals; ability to communicate effectively, not only with others in engineering practice but also with the community at large; in-depth technical competence in at least one engineering discipline; ability to undertake problem identification, formulation and solution; ability to utilise a systems approach to design and operational performance; ability to function effectively as an individual and in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams, with the capacity to be a leader or manager as well as an effective team member; understanding of the social, cultural, global and environmental responsibilities of the professional engineer, and the need for sustainable development; understanding of the principles of sustainable design and development; understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities and commitment to them; and expectation of the need to undertake lifelong learning and the capacity to do so. Bachelor of Engineering (Co-op) and Diploma of Professional Practice graduates enjoy an accelerated start into a wide variety of challenging career options across a range of industries and governments sectors, through their academic, co-operation education and professional practice learning experiences.

Students should have sound or satisfactory achievement in three academic subjects in Year 12 or equivalent. They should also have an overall IELTS band score of 6.0 (with no individual band score of less than 5.0), or a TOEFL score of 550 (Internet-based score of 79 or computer-based score of 213), including a TWE of 4.
