In this program students will acquire, develop and demonstrate technical engineering knowledge and skills in civil, electrical and electronics or mechanical engineering, integrating problem-solving, teamwork and communication skills. This program incorporates ‘Project Based Learning’, providing students learning in context, in formal and informal learning environments such as workshops, classes and project studios. Teamwork and problem solving skills are learned alongside the technical content in an exciting real-world engineering environment. Students on successful completion of the program will have the ability to apply knowledge of basic science and engineering fundamentals; ability to communicate effectively, not only with others in engineering practice but also with the community at large; in-depth technical competence in at least one engineering discipline; ability to undertake problem identification, formulation and solution; ability to utilise a systems approach to design and operational performance; ability to function effectively as an individual and in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams, with the capacity to be a leader or manager as well as an effective team member; understanding of the social, cultural, global and environmental responsibilities of the professional engineer, and the need for sustainable development; understanding of the principles of sustainable design and development; understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities and commitment to them; and expectation of the need to undertake lifelong learning and the capacity to do so. Graduates having specialised in civil engineering, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering, find employment in a range of industries. These encompass national and international public and private industry sectors, including the energy, transportation, manufacturing, process, construction, mining and education industries.

Students should have sound or satisfactory achievement in three academic subjects in Year 12 or equivalent. They should also have an overall IELTS band score of 6.0 (with no individual band score of less than 5.0), or a TOEFL score of 550 (Internet-based score of 79 or computer-based score of 213), including a TWE of 4.
