This course is accredited by the national professional body, Engineers Australia. Its main aim is to prepare students for successful careers as professional engineering managers, designers, analysts, educators and researchers. It is characterized by an interdisciplinary systems approach to engineering that will enable graduate engineers to solve the engineering problems of the future. The traditional areas of electrical and mechanical engineering provide the foundations to this approach, and a compulsory core of courses in engineering systems provides the skills and techniques for complex problem solving. This is supplement by project work on real-life engineering problems. Careers in engineering are diverse, with consistently high demand in Australia and overseas. Engineering students are provided with a set of skills and abilities that are highly sought after in engineering organizations, but also across many other professions and organizations. Engineering graduates often progress to senior management, which is why an engineering degree is often considered a springboard into the wider corporate world. Students must have completed an approved tertiary preparation course or alternative entry scheme; they will be assessed on the results of that scheme alone, unless they have undertaken subsequent study. International students whose native is not English should have the following English qualifications: Academic IELTS - an overall score of 6.5 with at least 6 in each component of the test; TOEFL (paper based test) - a score of 570 with TWE score of 4.5; TOEFL (computer based test) - a score of 230 with Essay score of 4.5 or TOEFL (internet based test) - a score of 90, with a minimum of 20 in all four sections.
