The BLArch aims to develop individuals who are creative problem solvers, able to draw on a depth and range of skills and who are equipped with the theoretical and practical knowledge to respond to design briefs at many scales. In landscape architectural practice, students will be responsible for projects that range in scale from the detailed design of a small residential garden, through to the creation of large-scale urban master plans, Olympic sites, parklands, town centres, new residential developments, streetscapes and plazas, or regional infrastructure and ecosystems. The program is accredited by the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA), and graduates holding the BLArch degree may qualify for the internationally recognised corporate membership of the Institute. Landscape architects work in many diverse settings involved with the design and development of sustainable built environments. They work in the public and private sector as designers, planners and managers and often work as part of multidisciplinary teams of urban designers, planners, developers, architects, scientists and engineers.

Applicants will be considered for admission to this program at UNSW on the basis of their performance in any of the following: Australian and New Zealand senior secondary studies; University or other post-secondary qualifications; equivalent overseas qualifications; an alternative entry qualification. They must also satisfy the following English language requirements: IELTS overall score of 6.5 with a minimum score of 6.0 in each of the sub-tests of speaking, listening, reading and writing; TOEFL - Internet-based Test (iBT) overall score of 90 with a minimum score of 24 in writing; TOEFL - Paper-based Test (PBT) overall score of 577 with a minimum score of 5.0 in the Test of Written English (TWE); successful completion of the UNSW Institute of Languages University English Entry Course with a grade of C+ (grade point 7.0) and a minimum score of 20 in the writing component; overall score of 68 in Pearson Test of English academic version and successful completion of the ANU College Access Program with a minimum of 70 per cent overall.
