This course is offered jointly by UTS: Law and UTS: Science. The law is of special importance in many areas of medical science, including medical and health practice, medical and biological research and industrial and commercial enterprise. This course provides full-time study for students wishing to obtain a professional legal qualification that satisfies the requirements for admission as a lawyer (providing they undertake the optional practical legal training (PLT) component) together with specialisation in medical science. The course addresses the increasing need for medical science expertise among lawyers. Graduates develop critical and analytical skills inherent to an understanding of the complex links between medical science and the law, thus increasing their employment opportunities and career choices. Career options include lawyer in areas where a strong background in human biology, medical diagnostics, neuroscience or pharmacology is valued; manager, officer or researcher in private or public health administration.

Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification, Australian Qualifications Framework Diploma, or equivalent Australian or overseas qualification at the required level. Students must fulfil the following English language proficiency of academic IELTS test score of 6.5 overall (with a writing score of 6.0) or TOEFL Test Paper Based score of 575 overall with TWE of 4.5 or TOEFL Test Internet Based score of 90 overall with essay writing of 21 or DEEP Program (Completion of the Insearch Direct Entry English Program at C level) or PTE score of 64.
