This accelerated program is for people who already have an undergraduate degree or have met professional competence to apply for registration as a nurse. It builds on their prior knowledge and skills, and provides learning and practice opportunities. It has a philosophical foundation based on caring and community engagement, a strong foundation in science, and emphasises the integral nature of clinical experience to the development of competence in nursing. Graduates achieve the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council Standards for Registered Nurses. Career opportunities include Nurse in acute care, armed forces, community, rural, mental health, Indigenous health, aged care and industry settings.

Students will be registered nurses with a current licence to practice nursing in their State and would normally have completed a relevant undergraduate degree. Students would normally be employed as a registered nurse in a mental health setting (unit of a hospital, community mental health team or similar) or where they would have access to children, adolescents or adults with mental health issues and/or disorders for the equivalent of two days per week for the duration of the program. IELTS overall score of 7.0, with no sub-score less than 6.5, or the equivalent score obtained on an approved alternative test, obtained within two years prior to the commencement of the program.
