This program introduces students to the craft, politics and philosophy of such storytelling. Whether they seek to be a journalist, work in creative advertising or practice as a fine artist, the command of storytelling is fundamental to success in these areas. They will also explore the inter-relationship of photography and other forms of visual communication and develop the ability to recognize and produce meaningful visual statements. In second and third year, students will concentrate on their major chosen from the following options: creative advertising photography, photographic art practice, or photojournalism. With a keen appreciation of the politics and philosophies underpinning the practice of photography and the motivation to work innovatively, students will be capable of working at a professional level in the creative and rewarding spheres of advertising and design, fine art and public art, news, photojournalism and documentary photography which can give them the opportunity to work anywhere in the world.

Students should have completed a senior secondary school qualification regarded as comparable to an Australian Year 12 award. International students whose native is not English should have the following requirements: a minimum overall band score of 6.0 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 5.5; a minimum score of 550 on TOEFL; an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score of 79 (no score less than 19); no score less than three in each skill of the ISLPR (conducted by GELI or ISLPR Language Services only); a minimum grade of C on the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE); a minimum grade of C on the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE).

This campus encompasses the Queensland College of Art, Griffith Film School and the Queensland Conservatorium, is renowned for excellence in the creative and performing arts and is steadily building a reputation in postgraduate and executive education through the Griffith Graduate Centre. Ideally located in Brisbane's picturesque South Bank Parklands, the campus is only a 10-minute walk from the Brisbane CBD and is adjacent to the Queensland Art Gallery, Gallery of Modern Art, the State Library, Museum, Performing Arts Complex and the Brisbane Exhibition and Convention Centre. Students can access welfare, counseling and other support services and apply for residential accommodation at the Mt Gravatt and Nathan campuses.

The campus provides on-campus accommodation for 950 students. The Colleges are conveniently positioned on the Nathan and Mt Gravatt campuses, close to the bus way and the city. South Bank campus (QCA and the Conservatorium) is only 11 minutes away by bus. As well as the convenient location, there are many benefits to living in a Griffith College including parties, social and sporting events and support with their studies. Students living in Griffith's Colleges also get discounts at the gyms and food outlets. Accommodation at the Gold Coast campus is operated by Griffith University Village. Home stay is accommodation offered to international students by families who live within commuting distance of Griffith University. Home stay enables students to gain an insight into Australian life and offers a unique opportunity to experience Australian culture first hand by participating in the daily routine of the host family's life.
