This course aims to develop skills in critical analysis and independent research in psychology and to prepare students for postgraduate research or professional careers. The course is designed to meet the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council's requirements for a fourth-year course in Psychology. Honours graduates have the foundation to pursue research postgraduate degrees (Masters by Research or PhD) which lead to accreditation as a registered psychologist. They can also find employment opportunities in areas such as welfare, social workers, community services and human resources.

Students must have completion of all requirements for an ordinary degree conferred by Victoria University; the completion of an APAC accredited major in psychology; a minimum of distinction level (70 per cent) performance in psychology at third-year level. Students who have completed their degree at a University or similar institution apart from Victoria University may apply for entry to the Bachelor of Arts Honours course. They must have IELTS overall score of 6; TOEFL (Internet) test score of 80 no section score less than 20, TOEFL (computer) test score of 213 ER 5 and EAP University Preparation UP2 (UG).
