This course builds on the Mathematical and Computational Sciences pre-major. It allows students to explore the three streams of applied mathematics, applied statistics and industrial modelling and optimisation. Students develop strong generic skills in logic, problem solving, optimisation, industrial and financial modelling, analysis, scientific computation, programming and numeracy. Mathematics has been described as the science of patterns, whether found in numbers, space, science, engineering, computers, imaginary abstractions or elsewhere. Mathematics is used in most fields, including the physical sciences, engineering, medicine, finance, and even the social sciences. Students can study this as part of a double major with Agriculture, Environmental Biology, Chemistry, Coastal Zone Management and Physics. The various career opportunities are Financial Dealer and Broker, Industrial Engineer, Programmer (Information Technology), Statistician, Teacher - Secondary, Logistics Clerk, Data Analyst, Information Technologist, Logistics Analyst, Mathematician, Project Analyst/Manager, Risk Management, Scheduler, Statistical Analyst and Supply Chain Management.

Students must have knowledge in applicable Mathematics. They must also satisfy the English language requirements such as IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Writing score of 6.0, Speaking score of 6.0, Reading score of 6.0, Listening score of 6.0, Overall band score of 6.0 and TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) paper based score of 550, Internet based (20 in each section) score of 80 and CUTE (Curtin Uni Test of English) - C.
