This course provides students with a knowledge of physics and its application in the physical sciences. The major is aimed at providing an appropriate grounding for those pursuing a career as a physics teacher or a scientist. As part of this major students are also able to gain understanding of planet and its climate, and learn physical principles relevant to the health sciences. Elective courses provide opportunities for broader study. Career opportunities are science Teacher (with further study), Scientist or Research Officer (Universities, Defence, CSIRO, DPI, Industry, Environment, Government, Health), Science Communicator, Technical Officer (Labs or Field Work).

Students should have satisfied IELTS (Academic Training only) score of 6.0 (or better) (no component lower than 5.5), Pearson (PTA) score of 50 (with no score lower than 50), TOEFL (paper based) score of 550 (or better) (with minimum test of written English score of 4.5), TOEFL (electronic) score of 213 (or better) (with essay rating of at least 4.5) and TOEFL (internet based) score of 80 (or better) (with 19 minimum in all bands).
