The program can be completed over one year of full-time study or part-time equivalent. Courses are offered on a semester basis, i.e. two semesters per year. The Bachelor of Science (Honours) is offered at Callaghan and Ourimbah Campuses. The specialisations of Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Earth Science, Forensic Science, Geography and Environmental Studies, Photonics, Physics and Psychology are available to students at the Callaghan campus. Honours gives students a competitive advantage. According to Graduate Careers Australia (GCA, 2006) "many employers will now prefer or even stipulate that candidates have at least an Honours degree when recruiting". The advanced skills and knowledge they will gain in Honours are respected and sought after. In Honours they work one-on-one with an academic on a research project. Academics are excited about their research. Students will get personal attention. They will participate in the research culture of the School. They can contribute to the development of knowledge in thei particular area. Graduates can find careers across a diverse range of fields working in private industry and government organisations or as a consultant. Depending on the specialisation chosen graduates find employment in pathology laboratories, chemical analysis, product control development or research, telecommunications, fibre-optics, laser technology, medical physics, coal technology, organisational psychology, human resource management, research and data evaluation. Areas of employment can also include biotechnology, minerals and energy industries, urban and rural planning, social planning, community services, fisheries, environmental authorities and marine parks, national parks and wildlife, land and water management, sustainability and development control. An Honours degree can also lead to a research career in academia or elsewhere. The units of study include SRMT4110 Sustainable Resource Management Honours 4110, SRMT4120 Sustainable Resource Management Honours 4120, SRMT4130 Sustainable Resource Management Honours 4130 and SRMT4140 Sustainable Resource Management Honours 4140.

Applicants must have successfully completed the Bachelors or its equivalent. Students of China must have Senior Middle School 3 or 2 60% (SMS 3) or 75% (SMS 2), Malaysia students with SPM 30 points over five subjects and UEC 30 points over five subjects, Singapore students must have GCE ‘O’ Level (or forecast results) 30 points over five subjects and Vietnam students must possess Diploma of General Education Average grade 7.0. English language requirements include IELTS Overall Score of 5.5 (with no individual band less than 5.0), TOEFL – Computer-based Test score of 173 with a TWE minimum score of 4.0, TOEFL – Internet-based Test 71 with a minimum score of 16 in Writing, TOEFL – Paper-based Test 500 with a TWE minimum score of 4.0, GCE ‘O’ Levels C6, SPM English of grade B4, UEC Senior 2 English of grade B3, HKCEE English with grade C (Minimum D in Writing) and HKALE Use of English with grade E.
