In this program students learn the theory and application of sciences that underpin human movement and performance. They gain in-depth knowledge of the exercise sciences including exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor control, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, sports psychology, sports medicine, sports nutrition, and sports coaching and performance analysis. They can complete appropriate courses and obtain sports trainer accreditation or Australian Sports Commission certification. Several first aid qualifications are incorporated throughout the degree. They must complete 140 hours of supervised practice to be eligible for accreditation. Career opportunities include Sport or exercise science, exercise prescription or programming, sports coaching, promotion and management, rehabilitation, fitness industry, sports administration, research. Graduates are eligible to apply for accreditation as an Accredited Exercise Scientist with Exercise and Sports Science Australia. Graduates may also become members of Sports Medicine Australia. Sport and exercise scientists focus on enhancing health and sporting achievements by developing coaching and training programs.

Students must have completed Australian Year 12 with good grades and must have prior knowledge in English and Maths. Students must satisfy any one of the following English language requirements: IELTS (Academic) score of at least 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 in all subtests; a TOEFL score (paper-based test) of at least 550, with essay score of 4; TOEFL score (internet-based test) of at least 76, with a minimum writing score 18 or successful completion of Direct Entry English Pathway, with a minimum grade of 65 percent.
