This double degree provides students the opportunity to combine the strengths of the Bachelor of Sport and Outdoor Recreation with a Bachelor of Education in primary teaching through a four-year full-time double degree program. Students undertake studies in sport and outdoor recreation simultaneously with studies covering the theory and practice of teaching. The Bachelor of Education provides comprehensive knowledge of education theory and practice with extensive practical experience to ensure graduates are confident and competent educators. The core units of the primary stream focus on teaching and children's learning within a social setting, covering the key learning areas including arts, English, mathematics, health and physical education, science, studies of society and environment (SOSE), and technology. In addition to the sporting and outdoor practical programs, students complete practical teaching experiences in a range of education settings and may also have the opportunity to gain overseas or remote experiences. Students gain valuable classroom experience by completing a minimum of 80 days professional placements at every level of the course. They also undertake 40-60 days of fieldwork placements including wilderness expeditions, sea kayaking, and coastal activities such as snorkelling. Graduates can teach in Victoria as physical and outdoor education specialist following registration with VIT. To teach interstate or overseas, graduates are advised to check registration requirements with local authorities. Careers may also be pursued in sports management, outdoor recreation, sports training and development, recreation and leisure and commercial recreation.

Students must have academic Year 12 or equivalent academic qualification. They must have achieved the following English language proficiency test results: IELTS (minimum test score of 6.5 overall; no individual band less than 6.0); Paper-based TOEFL (minimum test score of 580; a Test of Written English (TWE) score of at least 4.5); Internet-based TOEFL (a score of at least 90 overall; a Writing score of at least 22; no score lower than 20 on the other sections of the test); Cambridge English CAE (A grade); Cambridge English CEP (C grade).
