This course is a specialist discipline within engineering (sometimes called geomatic engineering or geomatics) which relies upon the application of high technology and scientific principles to measure, analyse and manage data about the Earth's physical shape and engineering structures on it to provide practical solutions to many areas of industry, especially the resource sector in Western Australia. Surveyors are experts in land measurement and management and have played a crucial role in major land development and civil engineering products in Australia since settlement. Modern surveying includes satellite positioning (GPS), laser scanning, airborne and marine navigation, digital mapping, satellite and airborne remote sensing, specialised alignment surveying and land management. The career opportunity of this course is Surveyor.

Students must have knowledge in Mathematics (including Calculus). They must also satisfy the English language requirements such as IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Writing score of 6.0, Speaking score of 6.0, Reading score of 6.0, Listening score of 6.0, Overall band score of 6.0 and TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) paper based score of 550, Internet based (20 in each section) score of 80 and CUTE (Curtin Uni Test of English) - C.
