This training program is conducted over approximately 24 months, during which time the students can be employed in the building and construction industry. To obtain this qualification all 21 core competency units and six elective competency units must be achieved. The area of studies are as follows: follow ohs policies and procedures, work effectively in the general construction industry, plan and organize work, conduct workplace communications, carry out measurements and calculations, read and interpret plans and specifications, apply basic leveling procedures, erect and dismantle restricted height scaffolding, carry out basic demolition, handle and prepare brick and block laying materials, use brick and block laying tools and equipment, carry out masonry veneer construction, carry out cavity brick construction, construct masonry steps and stairs, lay masonry walls and corners, lay multi thickness walls (wass) and piers, install flashings and damp proof course (dpc), construct masonry arches, construct curved walls, install fire-rated masonry construction, carry out setting out, install glass block work, construct fireplaces and chimneys, construct masonry structural systems, construct decorative brickwork, construct battered masonry walls and piers, use explosive power tools.

Students from India and Bangladesh should have completed 10 + 1 minimum 50 per cent average. Pakistan students should have completed basic Education High School Matriculation 45 per cent or higher. Chinese students should have completed Junior Middle School Graduation Certificate. Malaysian and Singaporean students should have undertaken 4 SPM or GCE 'O' Levels 'D' Grade or Higher. Students from USA must have completed High School Diploma or completion of 12th Grade. They must also have the English Language requirements, such as: IELTS score of 5.5 (General Training Version) overall with no individual band lower than 5; TOEFL score of 530 or above; or Medium of instruction at school being English, and satisfactory grades in English in final examinations (such as C grade at O level).
