This course provides practical training where the student learns all the skills in the Joinery trade. The course teaches the student how to work safely; use all hand and power tools; use machinery including computer controlled machinery; work on-site in the building industry; make windows and doors; make cabinets; cut glass; weld metals and construct joinery and shop-fittings. Joiners are employed in the building industry and in the cabinet, shop-fitting and stair-building industries. The job prospects for a joiner in Australia are very good. On satisfactory completion of this course, student may apply for further studies in Furniture Design and Technology.

Students must have good record at Year 11 level plus relevant work experience or the overseas equivalent; and English language proficiency level of IELTS 5.5, ISLPR 2+, TOEFL 197 (CB) or 46 (iBT), PTE Academic Score of 42 (no communicative skill score less than 42), Cambridge English: Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) of 47 or equivalent.

Holmesglen remains a leader in vocational and higher education, and one of the largest providers of TAFE in Victoria. Holmesglen delivers over 600 courses to nearly 50,000 students. Holmesglen has been proudly delivering and developing vocational education programs since 1982. With a train stop at its doorstep, located two minutes from the Monash freeway and being on a major bus route on Warrigal Road, the Chadstone campus is accessible to a large population of Melbourne. Institute Accommodation is available across all three campuses for both male and female students. Holmesglen uses the services of an accommodation agency to provide homestays. There are various options available for accommodation like Student Housing Australia, Claremont Guesthouse, Unilodge Student Accommodation, International House, Accommodation for Couples/Families, and Hotel Accommodation.
