This qualification is for people who want to work as an advanced stablehand in a thoroughbred racing stable caring for horses and their environment. As an advanced stablehand (sometimes referred to as stable foreman) students will be in charge of daily operations in a thoroughbred racing stable. In a thoroughbred racing stable they will care for thoroughbreds. They work to the delegated instructions of a trainer who has overall responsibility for the enterprise. There is a degree of autonomy within the delegation, for example they are permitted under the rules of racing to act for the trainer on race days and when operating as a foreman in the stable environment directs and coordinates one or more stablehands.

Students must have NSW School Certificate Year 10 or equivalent plus experience with horses is required. They must also demonstrate English language ability such as, suitable results of a recent academic IELTS - score 5.5 overall with no individual band lower than 5.0, or TOEFL (iBT) 51, or successful completion of TAFE NSW Certificate III in English for Further Study, or proof that the medium of instruction at school has been in English with satisfactory grades in English in final examinations.
