This course is for people who want to work in the wall and floor tiling trade. They will learn how to lay tiles on a variety of internal and external surfaces which may be horizontal, vertical, curved, sloping and twisted. They will receive training in the tools required for this work and also learn about waterproofing wet areas, tile types, tile accessories, tile glues, tiling patterns and cement mortars.

Students must have completed Year 10 or equivalent. They must have proficiency in English with academic IELTS score of 5.5 or TOEFL (iBT) score of 46 or Certificate III in English for Further Study at TAFE NSW or equivalent.

Macquarie Fields College was established in 1978 and enrolls over 3000 students each year in approximately 100 different courses across a variety of industry areas. These include wall and floor tiling, aged care, fashion design and technology, signage, IT networking and telecommunications. It is located close to the M5 and M7 freeways with close links to Glenfield railway station and it has state-of-the-art computing facilities with a networking laboratory accredited as a Cisco Local Academy, onsite beauty salons and brand new fitness facilities including a gym and student-run massage clinic that is open to the public. The Cisco Academy located on campus is for learners interested in completing the Cisco systems networking academy program. Students have complete access to a full range of student support services including customer service, canteen, library, learning support, counselling and careers advice.
