This is a vocational program designed for Jazz Musicians who wish to develop their skills in performance and widen their musical backgrounds. On successful completion of the course students may audition for other courses within the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. The Units of Competence from the nationally accredited Music Training Package (CUS09) are clustered within the course delivery units. These delivery units form training in the industry areas of Concert Practice, Ensemble, Improvisation, Workshop, Aural, History, Music Industry, Music Software, Copyright, OH&S, Second Study Piano and Theory. Details of the specific delivery arrangement for each Unit of Competence are available from the relevant course coordinator or the Program Director of Music.

Students are assessed on performance at an audition, a written test and school or post-secondary academic record. A minimum music standard equivalent to Grade VI practical and Grade V theory (AMEB) is desirable. It is expected that applicants would normally have achieved a level of education equivalent to completion of Year 10. They need to submit a folio of work or complete an interview and/or audition. They must satisfy IELTS overall band score of 6.0 (no individual band less than 6), TOEFL minimum score of 550 including TWE score of 5 (or a Computer based TOEFL score of 213 with an essay rating of 5 or better), TOEFL iBT score of 80 with no score below 20, GCE O Levels grade C or better, WAUFP 50 percent plus pass in ELACS, TEE pass in English or English Literature, International Baccalaureate Diploma minimum Grade 3 at higher level for an English subject and other acceptable qualifications can be obtained from ECU International. There are different entry requirement for various countries.
