This course offers students the opportunity to complete a Diploma in Language at the same time they are taking pretty well any other degree at Flinders - from Science or Psychology to Law or Business. By adding one extra year to their normal study program for the degree, they will graduate with two qualifications. Students can undertake the Diploma in Language if they have been admitted to any undergraduate degree of the University. The Diploma in Language aims to: foster the development of proficient levels of linguistic, socio-cultural and communicative competencies in French, Indonesian, Italian, Modern Greek or Spanish; expose students to a wide body of specific and cross-disciplinary knowledge relative to linguistic and cultural knowledges and practices (grammar, literature, translation, cinema, etc) relative to the language of study; develop students ability to analyse and respond to written and visual texts of varying difficulty relative to the language of study. The study of Modern Greek language and culture provides the key to understanding the importance of the Hellenic tradition in western intellectual development and its contribution to multicultural Australia. Modern Greek also can be included in a number of degree programs. Students also are offered the opportunity to study in selected Greek universities on the basis of exchange programs in place.

Students can undertake the Diploma in Language if they have been admitted to any undergraduate degree of the University. The Diploma of Language is only available in combination with another undergraduate course. They should have IELTS (academic) score of 6.0 (6.0 in speaking and writing); TOEFL (paper) score of 550 (TWE 4.5); TOEFL (internet) score of 80 (20 in writing and speaking); Cambridge (CAE) Grade of B or higher; Cambridge (CPE) Grade of C or higher; Pearson English Test overall score of 59 with no communication score less than 53.
