This course will give students a strong set of skills in fine and applied arts, industrial design, interior architecture, visual communications, multimedia, and digital and creative arts. Their experience will take them into the first or second year of a degree in the vibrant Faculty of Art Design and Architecture at Monash University. Monash University alumni are highly respected in Australia and overseas in the fields of architecture, art and design and many graduates have high profile careers as: graphic designers, interior architects, artists, architects, animators, craftspeople, industrial designers, website designers and teachers. They must successfully complete 17 units to achieve a Diploma of Art and Design. This includes 16 compulsory units and one elective unit. Monash College Diplomas are offered in: Art and Design; Arts; Business and Engineering. Their highest qualification will decide their entry point: Australian Year 11 or its equivalent. Part 1 Diplomas are positioned at an Australian Year 12 level. They allow them to specialise in the subjects that are most relevant to their chosen field and their destination degree. They will develop strong skills in critical, analytical and creative thinking and a deep understanding of research techniques. If they are an international student, they may be eligible to enter Monash University in the first year of their destination degree provided them to gain the required grades in Part 1 of their Diploma.

Students must be at least 16 years of age. Academic entry scores for a diploma program differ according to: highest education qualification, previous academic result, the country they are applying from. The minimum entry requirements for the diploma programs are: Australian year 11 (at least C Grade or 60 per cent)or equivalent. English language requirements can also be met through the options below: GCE O or A Level General Paper (English): grade C; Malaysia SPM/STPM English: grade A1 or A2; Hong Kong CEE English Syllabus B: grade C; IELTS: minimum score of 5.5 (No band lower than 5.0); TOEFL including Test of Written English (paper based): minimum score of 527, TWE 4; TOEFL iBT (internet based): Overall: 71 Writing: 17+ (No section lower than 13).
