This course offers a strong foundation in communication, journalism and psychology. It is the perfect pathway to take students into an Arts degree from the diverse, popular and exciting Faculty of Arts at Monash. Many Monash University alumni are highly respected in Australia and overseas. Their graduates have the opportunity to work in fields such as: public relations, marketing, advertising, social welfare, human resources, environmental studies, hospitality, foreign affairs, international trade, politics, tourism, diplomacy. They must successfully complete 16 units to achieve a Diploma of Arts. This includes 15 compulsory units and one elective unit. Monash College Diplomas are offered in: Art and Design, Arts, Business and Engineering. In part 1 students should have Australian Year 11 or its equivalent. Part 1 Diplomas are positioned at an Australian Year 12 level. They allow them to specialise in the subjects that are most relevant to their chosen field and their destination degree. They will develop strong skills in critical, analytical and creative thinking and a deep understanding of research techniques. If they are an international student, they may be eligible to enter Monash University in the first year of their destination degree provided them to gain the required grades in Part 1 of their Diploma.

Students must be at least 16 years of age. The minimum entry requirements for the diploma programs are: part 1 - Australian Year 11 (at least C Grade or 60 per cent) or equivalent. English language requirements can be met if English was the language of instruction in secondary studies and an approved English language subject was completed at: year 11 (at least C Grade or 60 per cent); year 12 (VCE units 3 and 4 with a study score of at least English 25 or ESL 30). English language requirements can also be met through the options in the table below: GCE O or A Level General Paper (English): grade C; Malaysia SPM/STPM English: grade A1 or A2; Hong Kong CEE English Syllabus B: grade C; IELTS: minimum score of 6.0 (writing 6.0); TOEFL including Test of Written English (paper based) – minimum score of 550, TWE 4.5; TOEFL iBT (internet based): Overall: 80 Writing: 20+.
