This course is suitable for students who: narrowly miss out on the entry scores required for directly entry into Monash University; need to bridge the gap between their highest qualification and those required for entry to Monash University and want an alternative pathway than Year 12 or foundation studies. The diploma is offered in two parts. Part 1 is taught at Australian Year 12 or level and Part 2 is equivalent to first year of an undergraduate degree and provides entry to second year of Monash University Information Technology degrees. Students may enter one of the following Monash University destination degrees after the diploma: Bachelor of Computing, Bachelor of Information Systems, Bachelor of Information Technology (Internet Technology or Systems Development majors), Bachelor of Multimedia Systems or the Bachelor of Network Computing. Students are required to complete a wide range of compulsory subjects covering all aspects of computing. They include accounting, communication, computing applications and technology, mathematics, programming, systems analysis, quantitative analysis, mathematics, networks and multimedia.

Students must have English (Year 12), any mathematics (Australian equivalent Year 11) qualification. They must have academic Year 12, International Baccalaureate or equivalent academic qualification. They must also have the following English language requirements they include minimum IELTS (academic test) test score of 6.5 overall, no individual band less than 6.0; Paper-based TOEFL minimum test score of 580 and a Test of Written English (TWE) score of at least 4.5 and Internet-based TOEFL score of at least 90 overall, a Writing score of at least 22 and no score lower than 20 on the other sections of the test and a grade in Cambridge English (Certificate in Advanced English - CAE).
