This program does not provide a recognised teaching qualification but is part of the broader postgraduate educational studies program. This designation aims to equip those who have educational responsibility in the health professions, with knowledge, skills and attitudes relevant to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education. They should consider the Graduate Certificate if they're seeking a shorter period of study than that required for the Master of Education degree. The health professional education specialisation is offered as an education qualification available to all the health professions. It is a collaborative venture between the Faculty of Education and Social Work, Sydney Nursing School, the Faculty of Health Sciences, and Sydney Medical School. They will complete core units of study in scholarship and teaching, clinical teaching and supervision, teaching clinical reasoning, and simulation-based learning in health, and acquire the knowledge and skills to meet the changing global environment of health professional education.

Students hold a Bachelor of Education; a bachelor degree, or an equivalent qualification, with the completion of postgraduate studies, or professional experience equivalent to one year full-time, in a field appropriate to the program of studies; or have satisfactorily completed the Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies at the University of Sydney in the specialisation intended. They must satisfy IELTS score of 6.5 (min 6.0 in each band) or TOEFL minimum result of 577 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in writing or IBT score of 90 (minimum 23 in writing and 22 in reading, listening and speaking).
