Students entering the Graduate Diploma program will normally be required to hold an undergraduate degree, or equivalent, from a recognised higher education institution. They must satisfy any one of the following English language requirements: IELTS (Academic) score of at least 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 in all subtests; a TOEFL score (paper-based test) of at least 550, with essay score of 4; TOEFL score (internet-based test) of at least 76, with a minimum writing score 18 or successful completion of Direct Entry English Pathway, with a minimum grade of 65 percent.

The University's 100-hectare campus is located in Sippy Downs, in the heart of the Sunshine Coast. Distinctively designed, the award-winning buildings house cafes, an art gallery, an expansive library, bookshop, 24-hour computer labs, as well as lecture theatres and teaching spaces. The sports precinct includes an international-standard athletics track and a $10 million sport stadium. Wildlife, including eastern grey kangaroos, roam freely around the grounds.

There are three privately-owned, fully-furnished student accommodation complexes are conveniently located next to the university. UniCentral, Varsity Apartments and The Village are all linked by pathway to the campus, which is an easy three-minute walk away. Public transport and the local shopping centre are within easy reach. Due to the University's close proximity to a number of towns, conveniently located off-campus accommodation is easy to find, either through local real estate agents and newspapers or the Off-Campus Accommodation Register. Students can find share accommodation or rent a unit or house with friends. The cost of living on the Sunshine Coast is generally lower than in other Australian cities. Accommodation for students with a disability is also available.
