This is a one-year postgraduate course for creative practitioners from visual arts, contemporary fashion and contemporary performance, culminating in an exhibition and contextual essay. Based on the view that artistic practice comprises both studio practice and theoretical investigations, both are to be understood as research. Reflects the intertwined character of theory and practice. The course concentrates on the conceptual development of students through supervision and group forums. Exposes the student to the diverse issues surrounding contemporary arts research in order to develop a rigorous and informed professional practice within a larger historical and social context. Graduates of this course will be eligible to apply for the second year of the Master of Arts Visual Arts programme.

Students should have a degree or equivalent in creative arts from a recognised institution. Plus demonstrated: aptitudes for committed practice within the creative arts, research abilities in both the written and practical components of the course. They must satisfy IELTS overall band score of 6.0 (no individual band less than 6), TOEFL minimum score of 550 including TWE score of 5 (or a Computer based TOEFL score of 213 with an essay rating of 5 or better), TOEFL iBT score of 80 with no score below 20, GCE O Levels grade C or better, WAUFP 50 percent plus pass in ELACS, TEE pass in English or English Literature, International Baccalaureate Diploma minimum Grade 3 at higher level for an English subject and other acceptable qualifications can be obtained from ECU International. There are different entry requirement for various countries.
