This program opens up a wide variety of career opportunities in forest work. The course is specifically designed for university graduates with a background in general or environmental sciences who wish to specialise in forest management. The course provides targeted forest science and management education and training. The forestry units involve fieldwork in eucalypt forests, rainforests, plantations, and on farms. Some units are offered as short courses on-campus to enable participation by professional foresters who are employed in the industry. Graduates will be suited to employment in the following fields: government forest services, management of native forests, fire fighting, land use and parks management, mine site rehabilitation, plantation management, restoration forestry. Eligible graduates can complete further study to attain the Master of Forest Science and Management.

Students should have obtained a degree considered by the University to be equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree. Students without a degree but with substantial relevant work experience may be admitted to a graduate diploma or masters. In addition, students should have fulfilled English language requirements with IELTS score of 6.0 overall (no less than 5.5 in any band), TOEFL/TWE score of 550/4.5.
