This course will be workplace and future orientated, as such will have the demonstrated capacity to enhance workplace capability and a clear focus on designing pedagogical strategies to achieve learning. Graduates will have knowledge and skills in the use of Dimensions of Learning Instructional Framework. The specific professional standards that graduates will demonstrate by direct, indirect and supplementary evidence are derived from the Queensland College of Teachers Professional Standards for Queensland Teachers. Students will be required to complete extensive Embedded Professional Learning which will consist of three days per week placement over school terms 2 and 3, plus a six week Internship over the first six weeks of school’s term four for five days per week. It includes a unique blend of theory and practical experience through linking university coursework with practice teaching within primary or secondary schools. The program includes mentoring of pre-service student teachers with experienced practicing teachers through 56 days embedded professional learning followed by a 30 day internship. Graduates of the program are eligible to apply for teacher registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.

Students must have completed a three year non-education bachelor degree or equivalent from a university or college. Students with degrees completed overseas must provide evidence to support that their qualifications are equivalent to an Australian three year bachelor degree. Students who cannot demonstrate they have completed a bachelor degree will be refused entry to the program. The GPA within the Bachelor degree must be at least 4.0. Also students should demonstrate their English language proficiency with an overall IELTS band score of 6.0 (with no individual band score of less than 5.0), or a TOEFL score of 550 (Internet-based score of 79 or computer-based score of 213), including a TWE of 4.
