This course aims to generate tangible change in educational and social services. Academic teaching staff is experts in the fields of education and social services and have been actively involved in policy processes in their area. They can choose from a range of units of study that will allow them to examine social policy frameworks and processes in a global context; consider theories of organizational management and administration; and learn about the ways in which organizations operate as learning committees and manage responses to cultural change. Upon the completion of the Master of Policy Studies, educators, social workers and human services providers will be equipped with skills to move into a policy position, expand their policy role, and have more impact on policy. They understand current policy debates, how policy processes work and how to conduct policy research.

Students must have completed a hold a Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification recognized by the Australian Association of Social Workers, or a bachelor's degree in relevant area and at least three years' relevant work experience in the field of education or human services. English language requirements for admission to this course: IELTS: A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band or TOEFL: A minimum result of 577 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in Writing or IBT: A minimum result of 90 overall including a minimum result of 22 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 23 in Writing.

The Camperdown campus is the home to the faculties of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, Architecture, Arts, Economics and Business, Education and Social Work, Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Science, and Veterinary Science. Also located on this campus is the University's Centre for English Teaching. This campus has sports ovals and centres, museums, galleries, two major complexes devoted to student recreation and services.

Accomodation options that are available in this campus are University owned accommodation, Residential colleges, Sydney University Village, STUCCO student cooperative living. International House is the only University owned residential college. It offers both catered and self-catered options. The Student Housing Unit manages Darlington House, the Terraced Housing and Selle House. Darlington House accommodates 54 students in 12 male-only or female-only self-contained apartments in a modern apartment building. The Terraced Housing consists of single and twin-shared bedrooms in 43 terraced houses located near the University. Low cost accommodation, subsidised by the University, is offered in Selle House and several terraced houses. This accommodation caters to students on a very low budget. Students will only be eligible if they are an Australian Citizen or a Resident and receive a Centrelink benefit. Sydney University Village offers self-catering apartments to enrolled students. Located in Newtown, about ten minutes walk from the university, STUCCO is a housing co-operative for full-time, low income students who are Australian residents. Affiliated with, but not owned by the University, it accommodates 38 students in eight apartments. Off campus accommodation is available in student residence or hostel.
