This program is for high-level practitioners who wish to extend their practice within a scholarly context. The degree comprises 24 credit points of coursework and a 48 credit points thesis. Academic units may award advanced standing for the coursework component of the degree and will determine the appropriate entry point. The major study areas of the program include: performance, production, dramaturgy and theatre studies, direction.

Students should have an honours bachelor degree of at least four years duration in an appropriate discipline at class II, division one, or higher (or its equivalent) and demonstrated evidence of high artistic attainment. Students who do not have the appropriate qualifications may be admitted to the 72 credit points program. In addition they should have fulfilled English language requirements with IELTS (academic) overall score of 6.0, TOEFL (Internet-based) score of 79 and passed in English for tertiary studies.
