This program is for high-level practitioners who wish to extend their practice within a scholarly context. The degree comprises 24 credit points of coursework and a 48 credit points thesis. Academic units may award advanced standing for the coursework component of the degree and will determine the appropriate entry point. Major study areas of the program include: 2D and 3D studio practice [printmaking, textiles, painting and sculpture], indigenous arts, curatorial theory and practice, art history and archaeology of Europe.

Students should have an honours bachelor degree of at least four years duration in an appropriate discipline at class II, division one, or higher (or its equivalent) and demonstrated evidence of high artistic attainment. Students who do not have the appropriate qualifications may be admitted to the 72 credit points program. In addition they should have fulfilled English language requirements with IELTS (academic) overall score of 6.0, TOEFL (Internet-based) score of 79 and passed in English for tertiary studies.
